The Austin County Fair was organized in 1927 as an association to encourage agricultural and horticulture by exhibition of livestock and farm products. Originally known as the Bellville Community Fair Association it had only five directors.
Shortly after its organization, the fair changed its name to the Austin County Fair in order to encompass the entire county. The Austin County Fair even continued during World War II and has continued to grow bigger and bigger over the years.
Today there are 50 directors who represent various sectors of the county. There are hundreds of committeemen, volunteers, sponsors and buyers who help make the Austin County Fair bigger and better every year.
